Concerns are mounting over the disappearance of Rabbi Zvi Kogan, a Chabad envoy and Israeli-Moldovan citizen, who has been missing in the United Arab Emirates since Thursday.

Authorities suspect a potential terrorist connection to his disappearance, prompting an urgent investigation by both Mossad and Emirati security services.

Rabbi Kogan, who also managed a local supermarket, has not been in contact for over two days. According to Israeli journalist Barak Ravid, security sources suggest that he was under surveillance by terrorist elements prior to his disappearance.

In an official statement, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) confirmed the gravity of the situation:
“Zvi Kogan, an Israeli-Moldovan citizen and Chabad envoy residing in the UAE, has been missing since Thursday afternoon. In light of indications that this could be a terrorist incident, a comprehensive investigation is underway in collaboration with Emirati authorities. Israeli intelligence and security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure his safety and well-being.”

The incident has raised alarms within both local and international Jewish communities, as well as diplomatic circles, highlighting concerns about potential threats to foreign nationals in the region. Investigations remain ongoing. Photo by Ahmad Ardity, Wikimedia commons.
